About Paul
Paul Byrom has become a household name throughout Ireland since the release of his hit album, 'Velvet' in the winter of 2005. Recorded with the backing of a 54 piece orchestra, an orchestra size more akin with movie scores as apposed to album recording, 'VELVET' reached No. 2 in the charts.
Dublin born Paul, known as Ireland's Premier Young Tenor, has had a very busy schedule on both stage and screen since. Highlights being consecutive sell out solo concerts in the infamous National Concert Hall in 2006, and 2007 together with appearances on the inaugural outing of the TV ratings hit series 'Celebrity Jigs & Reels' where he reached the final. Later that year Paul made his tv acting debut on RTE in Irelands top rated soap Fair City. Music, however, is Paul's first love.
This tenor's star commenced its rise long before 2005, however.
After being identified by his teachers as 'a special vocal talent', Paul Byrom began voice study and training at the age seven under the tutorship of the wonderful Dan McNulty and by the time he reached his early teens was singing professionally – he recorded his first album as a boy soprano when he was 14. After his voice turned tenor he began studying with the infamous Dr Veronica Dunne at the Leinster School of Music.
In the years that followed, Paul opened up his touring account performing across the USA and Asia on numerous occasions.
Paul is in high demand as a solo performer. He has been honoured with the opportunity of fusing his other passion in life, sport, with his first passion, music, when invited to perform at a number of All-Ireland finals in Croke Park together with international rugby and soccer games. One of these highlights was singing at the last six nations game to be played in the oldest rugby stadium in the world, Lansdowne Road, before closing for its re-build. Paul also performed 'Barcelona' before the Hearts Vs Barcelona pre-season friendly in Scotland's Murray Field.
Paul's talent and personality have been complimented and embraced by his peers and many dignitaries alike including President Mary McAleese and The Emperor of Japan amongst others. Ireland's own Shay Healy, Phil Coulter and Bono are amongst those who have vocalized their compliments for this tenor's vocal genius.
Anyone that has met this outgoing Dublin guy and especially those who know Paul… will attest to the fact that Ireland's Premier Young Tenor, is the epitome of balance of someone that is extremely diligent in the growth of his craft as a tenor while also knowing how to enjoy himself outside of his professional time – a great balance! Paul is also an ambassador for Irish based charity GOAL, which raise funds for their relief efforts in the Third World. He has visited Calcutta where much of the charities work is done and hopes to go further a field with them in order to try and raise awareness of the charities goals and ambitions.
2008 saw Paul return to The National Concert Hall for his third successive sell out performance. This was to be his only Irish concert due to demands abroad.
All of this results in the fact that the young Tenor is one of five soloists in the hugely successful International production, Celtic Thunder. Already highlighted as a 2009 calendar must see, Celtic Thunder has just finished a 50 date tour of America and Canada. Performing to sell out crowds in Radio City has been one of Paul's highlights to date. Celtic Thunder was recorded in Dublin and was broadcast by PBS Television across the USA throughout 2008. The first two albums both reached #1 on the World Billboard Charts. Celtic Thunder and Paul Byrom will be touring Canada and America again in the Spring of 2009
